International Conferences are very good chance to meet old friends and make new young friends.

On 27 Feb (2014) in last week, I met Prof. Yves Henry Geerts, Universite libre de Bruxelles, in the 2nd International Symposium on Self-Organizing Molecular Semiconductors (2nd SOMS) held in Tokyo Institute Technology. It has past 12 years since we met in Trieste, Italy, 2002, for Conference on the 25th Anniversary of Discovery of Discotic Liquid Crystals. At first I could not recognize him, at a glance of his white head. My head also becomes white. Both of us could not recognize each other at first. The opening key note speaker was Prof. Hanna and the chairperson was this white head, who introduced himself as Yves Geerts. After the talk of Prof. Hanna, I approached to Yves and told him. gYves, I am Kazu Ohta. Nice, meet you again!h He answered, gOh, I remember you. We met Italy and it past 11 years.h We saw our white head each other. With laughing, I confessed that at my first glance of your white head, I could not recognize you." "Me too." C'est la vie!

I lived in Paris as the first postdoctoral fellow of Prof. Jaques Simon, ESPCI, for one year in 1986-87. It is 27 years ago. In this symposium, I met one young French researcher, Dr. Fabrice Mathevet, Paris Institute of Molecular Chemistry. After his nice talk, I introduced myself to him and talk with him. From his self-introduction, It became apparent that he was the last doctor course student of Prof. Skoulios, Strasbourg. During my stay in Paris, I visited Strasbourg to meet Prof. Skoulious. We know many common persons. World is small!
